DDT earned a Super No Vacancy Full House crowd at Sumo Hall for this year’s big “PETER PAN” show. The show lasted just under 5 hours with eleven matches in total. DDT announced they will return to Sumo Hall on 23rd August 2015.

The big main event was a 3 Way Elimination match for the KO-D Openweight Championship. HARASHIMA pinned both Kenny Omega and Isami Kodaka to successfully defend the title. The first elimination happened when Kodaka countered Omega’s One-Winged Angel into a Victory Roll. HARASHIMA stopped the pin by hitting the Somato on Kodaka, then he hit Omega with the Somato for the pin. Kodaka used the Somato against HARASHIMA for a close nearfall but the champion fired back with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster and the Swan Dive Somato to put him away. HARASHIMA complimented his opponents for their strong performances but considered himself the strongest for winning. He now looks forward to his next challenger, the winner of the young generation tournament taking place later this month. The show ended with the roster celebrating as foam rained down onto the ring.

Two years ago Konosuke Takeshita had his debut match in Sumo Hall against El Generico. Last year Takeshita celebrated his first year in the business by facing Katsuhiko Nakajima. This year he was graced with the presence of New Japan star Hiroshi Tanahashi for the semi-main event. Takeshita took a page out of Generico’s book and tried to hit the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! But Tanahashi was able to avoid it and eventually hit the High Fly Flow for the victory.

The return of Kota Ibushi saw him in the ring with Shuji Kondo for the first time since the “ALL TOGETHER” charity show from 2011. Kondo hit the King Kong Lariat several times until Ibushi unleashed a few of his own. Ibushi finally won with the Phoenix Splash and the two hugged each other after the match. In the post-match interview Kondo said Ibushi should move up to Heavyweight class. Ibushi said he wants to evolve and he will practice more and more. He called this a successful comeback.

The craziest specatacle of the day was the Tag Team Street Fight between Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai against the combination of hybrid fighter and pervert, Minoru Suzuki & Michael Nakazawa. A castle of chairs was set up inside the ring even though the match began outside the arena. The fight quickly dragged itself into a bathroom before finally making its way towards ringside. Suzuki attacked Takagi with a giant poster and they brawled amongst the crowd. They reappeared cycling down to the ring on Takagi’s custom battle cycle. Takagi would eventually crash into the chair castle. Suzuki’s attempt to use the bicycle backfired when he accidentaly ran over Nakazawa. Another attempt at teamwork backfired when Nakazawa accidentely gave Suzuki the Ultimate Venom Arm. Suzuki no sold it and he gave his partner the Gotch-Style Piledriver. Kasai then hit the Pearl Harbour Splash from the top of a ladder onto Nakazawa.

DDT announced they will be making their own movie called Wrestling Cannonball. Starring a mixture of DDT wrestlers and being directed by Muscle Sakai, the movie is set for release next February. Sakai has asked Suzuki and Kasai to feature in the film.

The DDT Extreme Title match was probably the most bizarre thing to ever happen in Sumo Hall and with six DDT shows at the arena in the bag that’s saying something. The challenger Muscle Sakai produced a Powerpoint presentation to explain how the match was set up. For some reason the main rule was if the match lasted 10 minutes then comedy actor Ryota Yamazato, who was brought in as a guest, would be blown up with no questions asked. Not trusting Danshoku Dino to win in under 10 minutes, Yamazato attacked him backstage and took his place in the match, even stealing Dino’s wrestling gear to wear. The match began but instead of wrestling, Sakai and Yamazato took part in a quiz instead until Sakai attacked the actor. Dino came to the rescue and the advertised match finally went ahead. But time ran out and security dragged Yamazato out of the arena to face his destiny. Dino and Sakai continued to fight as time slowed down and we got to hear their inner monologues. That ended when Dino pinned Sakai with a School Boy. Meanwhile outside the building the security blew up Yamazato with Anus Dynamite and a tribute for him appeared on the screen. Thus ends one of the weirdest paragraphs I have ever typed out.

The streak continues! Soma Takao is still undefeated in “PETER PAN” after he and his Team Dream Futures partners won the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Takao also changed his colours from red to blue so he, Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie would be more colour coordinated with the Powerpuff Girls. After losing the All Asia Tag Team Titles on Saturday, Ishii & Irie quickly bounced back with this title win. Former champions Shuten-dōji demanded lots and lots of alcohol to get over their title loss.

The Cute Connection of Saki Akai, Makoto Oishi & Ladybeard defeated the random team of Aja Kong, Antonio Honda & Hiroshi Fukuda. After the match Oishi celebrated with the Up Up Girls, who performed their song “Chopper☆Chopper”. They also shot t-shirts into the crowd.

There were three Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title changes in the Battle Royal. The champion Akihiro was in the ring with Yoshihiko and together they were almost unstoppable. DJ Nira brought their reign of terror to an end and pinned Akihiro to win the belt. Nira went on to the final two but in the end fell to Gorgeous Matsuno. Singer LiLiCo awarded Matsuno the belt after the match but Nira suddenly knocked out the new champ with a Rocket Punch before fainting. Encouraged by the audience chanting her name, LiLiCo pinned Matsuno to become the 1,009th Iron Man Champion.

The show opened properly with GENTARO’s first match in DDT in over two years. He and MIKAMI triumphed over Yasu Urano & Akito. MIKAMI thanked GENTARO for giving him motivation to continue wrestling.

DDT beat Union in an 8-Man Tag Team bout presented as one of the dark matches held before the show.

Tokyo Women’s Wrestling presented the first match of the day. Miyu Yamashita pinned Erin with the Crash Rabbit Heat to win the match for her team. While they were happy to perform in the dark match, all of the girls involved hoped they will grow enough to perform on the main card at next year’s Sumo Hall show.

THE WHOLE SHEBANG JOHNNY GARGANO
