IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title: Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi © beat Davey Richards & Rocky Romero (17:41) when Devitt used the Bloody Sunday on Romero (4th defense). 5. IWGP Tag Team Title: Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson © beat Yujiro Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito (19:49) when Bernard used the Bernard Driver on Naito (7th defense). 6. Special Singles Match: Yuji Nagata beat Masato Tanaka (14:53) with a backdrop hold. 8. Special Singles Match: Togi Makabe beat Satoshi Kojima (11:51) with a King Kong kneedrop. 9. IWGP Heavyweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi © beat Shinsuke Nakamura (20:17) with the High Fly Flow (3rd defense). 6,500 fans packed the Fukuoka International Center, making it the first full house in this building for quite some years. The show was a major turning point in terms of alignments and developments, a huge success in every aspect. NOAH and All Japan were there selling tickets for their own shows in the region coming up, showing how unified the industry is nowadays. Tanahashi defeated eternal rival Nakamura to hold on to his IWGP Heavyweight Title in a 20 minute blockbuster. The ace of New Japan downed Shinsuke with his High Fly Flow but was quickly confronted by Hirooki Goto after the match. Goto, who sported a new entrance theme, appearance (long black pants), and bigger body, declared war on Tanahashi after turning against him right before his trip to Mexico. The long-running series between Makabe and Kojima ended with another decisive victory for Makabe over the veteran, making it 3-1 to him. The real story came after Makabe’s win though when TAKA and Taichi appeared and turned against him. They were joined by the new leader of that group, Minoru Suzuki, who has returned to New Japan and will now lead the army comprised of himself, MVP, TAKA, and Taichi! Makabe saved Kojima, though, and the two shook hands, their grudge liquidated and a new alliance born. Another series to end was Nagata vs. Tanaka, which also ended 3-1 in Nagata’s favour over the ZERO1 man. This capped off a great couple of months for Nagata that included winning the New Japan Cup and Champion Carnival. Before he confronted Tanahashi, the angry and aggressive Goto returned in a tag match where he and young Tama Tonga faced GHC Heavyweight Champion, Takashi Sugiura, and Makoto Hashi. The New Japan team won the match with Goto using his Shouten Kai on Hashi to send a message to Tanahashi. No word yet on if Goto will remain independent of Suzuki’s new army and Nakamura’s CHAOS but there were no indications he is joining either. “Bad Intentions” Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson today tied the IWGP Tag Team Title defense record, held by Chono & Tenzan (4th reign, 3/02~4/03), by making a successful V7 defense of the belts against NO LIMIT. NO LIMIT were thought to be the next big tag team in Japan when they returned at the beginning of 2010 and captured the belts, but Bad Intentions have for close to a year now maintained a strangle hold on them and this victory proved that anew. The big story after the match was that Yujiro walked out on Naito, which could spell curtains for the exciting NO LIMIT team. Apollo 55 continue to reign as 2-crown champions with a tag and single title each, Devitt & Taguchi making a successful V4 defense of the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Title today against Davey Richards & Rocky Romero when Devitt pinned Romero. In a day when no titles changed hands, Jushin Thunder Liger also held on to his CMLL World Middleweight Title by beating Mascara Dorada, in his 3rd successful defense. Like Devitt and Taguchi, Liger holds two titles (the other being the JAPW Light Heavyweight Title) as New Japan juniors stand on top of the world once more with six titles held by three men!
