Makabe retains and passes his toughest hurdle yet by beating previous champion Nakamura. Nakamura’s Boma Ye missed its target and Makabe capitalized with lariats and a Dragon suplex hold to ensure he enters the G1 Climax as IWGP Heavyweight Champion!

Tanahashi vs. Iizuka was said to be one of the better matches of the show, with the fans solidly behind Tanahashi, who managed to win with a High Fly Flow -> sleeper hold. The match could only end by a choke-out submission.

The IWGP Tag Team Title “Dogfight” was a series of tag matches with the loser of each fall having to sit the next one out until one team scored two in a row, in an attempt to conclude this chain of three way matches. Bad Intentions got the win with successive falls and in doing so made a successful V1 defense of the belts.

Yano ripped apart TAJIRI’s dodgy knee and seems to have put him on the shelf again. He attacked the leg with a chair after making TAJIRI tap out.

Devitt completed an amazing junior monopoly, adding the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Title to his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title and Best of the Super Jr. tournament win when Apollo 55 regained the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Title from the veteran team of Kanemoto & El Samurai!

5. Special Singles Match: Toru Yano beat TAJIRI (5:56) with a standing kneelock.

6. IWGP Tag Team Title – Dogfight: Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson © beat Yuji Nagata & Wataru Inoue and Yujiro Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito (36:55) (1st defense). Inoue used the Spear of Justice on Anderson (12:32). Naito used a jackknife hold on Inoue (4:17). Bernard used the Bernard Driver on Takahashi (8:53). Anderson used the Gun Stun on Inoue (11:13).

7. Special Singles Match ~DEEP SLEEP TO LOSE~: Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Takashi Iizuka (20:00) with a sleeper hold.
