Remus
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla sent out the following message today, regarding changes to this weekend's Battle Of Los Angeles Tournament: Earlier today we received word of two cancellations for the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles. First, Charles Mercury will not be able to compete in his recently announced non-tournament bout due to a personal matter. Second, we were notified by TNA Management that Chris Sabin has been injured, and will be unable to compete in the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles. TNA Management stated that Sabin "aggravated a neck injury at our TV tapings and the doctor is recommending that he take a couple of weeks (and maybe longer) off. He had first suffered the injury at our previous tapings and tweaked it at the tapings this week." We at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla wish Chris Sabin a speedy and full recovery. With word of Sabin's injury coming little more than 24 hours prior to the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles, finding a suitable replacement was not an easy task. However, due to his performance in recent months, especially in the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles Qualifier at Against The Grain, Johnny Goodtime will now step in to the D Block and take on Roderick Strong in the opening round of the tournament. This will be Johnny Goodtime's first Battle of Los Angeles tournament appearance. With Charles Mercury's absence and Johnny Goodtime taking part in 2009 Battle of Los Angeles, Brandon and Dustin Cutler will now take on Malachi "CK" Jackson and Ryan Taylor in a non-tournament tag team contest on Night One. Remus
Quick Results: - Cutlers win - Scott Lost def LTP - Human Tornado def Matt Jackson - Joey Ryan def Colt Cabana - Brandon Gatson def Nick Jackson - Roderick Strong def Johnny Goodtime - Excaliber says Great Muta will wrestle at the PWG WrestleUnion show - Brian Kendrick def Austin Aries - Kenny Omega defeats Kevin Steen when he crucifix pins Kevin following a package piledriver from Kevin! - Alex Shelley defeated El Generico with a Shiranui in the final opening round match. Show is starting, only 30 mins late. Excal is reading rules becuz of drunks from last show. Intros of everyone now. 1. Cutlers with a spike tombstone. Some sloppiness, especially from Malachi, but a very fun opener. Ryan Taylor got "please come back" chants... I expect he will. 2. Scott with the Big Fat Kill in about ten minutes. Got a little out of sync at the end, but real good, with Scott taking most of the offense and timing LTP's comebacks perfectly. A couple really brilliant spots here. Omega gets a monster pop for heading to the announce table. It's clear who the crowd wants to take this thing. 3. Tornado/Matt. Lots of cheating from Nick at ringside, as you might imagine. Fabulous spot of Matt doing the cabbage patch on Tornado to huge heat... Tornado no-sells the dick kick, pimp-slaps Matt and does his own version. Cartwheel flipping backrake by Matt gets even more heat... his calling Tornado "Kunta Kinte" gets what one might call the wrong kind of heat. Nick interferes and gets his fucking HEAD lariated off by RICK KNOX -- Tornado hits the DND to win it. Brilliant finish. Lots of blown spots here, but the character stuff made it work and then some. We're three for three. 4. Joey wins with a superkick. Tightest, smoothest match so far... lots of comedy and British matwork, all of which Joey ran with nicely. Both guys were faces to the crowd, so it was on the workers to create heat... they did it. Nothing mind-blowing so far, but four good, fun, fairly quick matches... exactly what you want out of an undercard. 5. Roddy/Goodtime. Roddy with the Stronghold. Long, back-and-forth match, with Johnny getting in a surprising amount of offense. Well-wrestled with some great moments, but I think it would've gotten over even more if it'd been more one-sided... nobody believed Johnny could win, and Roddy clearly wasn't familiar with Johnny's offense, leading to some stilted moments. Thumbs-up overall, though, no question. PWG can do no wrong right now. Intermission. 6. Nick/Gatson Gatson wins! Fun, tight, well-wrestled match. Easily the least heat of any match so far, but given that they were put in the deadly post-intermission and that neither gut is established in singles competition, they did real well. Good match. 7. Aries/Kendrick Heelapalooza. Dueling heel micwork, dueling hair-pulling, dueling missed knee drops, dueling low blows... you get the picture. Kendrick wins when he accidentally falls on top of Aries after being hit by the ROH belt. Aries and Kendrick then head to the bar, where Kendrick gets a beer and Aries gets WHITE WINE. Match was hurt by some stupid "boring" chants, but a jolly good show. The best all-around performer so far has been Aries by a country mile. 8. Omega/Steen now... both are monstrously over. Steen on the mic... punks a drunk idiot in style, puts Omega over. Steen really is stellar on the mic. Omega responds in bizarre, Bosherrific fashion. Steen does some great Bosh material, speaking of which. Long, weird, bad, great mic segment. Steen uses his fat to get the early advantage... Kenny fights back, but eats a nasty powerbomb onto the ring apron. Omeg gets beat on a for awhile, but hits a desperation dragon suplex that leads to a red-hot comeback... until Steen DDTs the living shit out of him. Kenny bites his way back into control, but Steen smacks him back down in short order. Package piledriver by Steen... OMEGA REVERSES THE PIN FOR THREE! All the matches have been fun, but this was the first one that really meant something. Steen made Omega tonight, once and for all. Great performance by both guys, and MOTN for sure, if you ask me. 9. Generico/Shelley to end the show. Shelley over Generico via top rope Shiranui. Awesome finishing sequence. Shelley on mic: Thanks, Sabin wanted to come. Тоест тази вечер ще има: 1. 2009 BOLA - Quarter Final – Block A Match: Kenny Omega vs. Scott Lost 2. 2009 BOLA - Quarter Final – Block B Match: Brian Kendrick vs. Joey Ryan 3. 2009 BOLA - Quarter Final – Block C Match: Brandon Gatson vs. Alex Shelley 4. 2009 BOLA - Quarter Final – Block D Match: Roderick Strong vs. Human Tornado 5. 2009 BOLA - Semi-Final Match: A Block winner vs. B Block winner 6. 2009 BOLA - Semi-Final Match: C Block winner vs. D Block winner 7. 2009 BOLA - Final Quote Link to comment
